About Us
The Hendricks County Recycling District is dedicated to promoting recycling, waste reduction, and responsible waste management within Hendricks County.
The District was formed on December 31, 2004, with the responsibility of reducing the amount of waste sent from Hendricks County to final solid waste disposal facilities. That goal is accomplished by providing waste reduction, reuse, and recycling education and services to residents of the county. In addition, the District works to ensure that problem wastes are disposed of properly.
Free in-school educational programs are offered by the District for public and private school students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The District also focuses on providing adult outreach that focuses on educating residents about the opportunities for waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and proper disposal in the community.
The District operates Yard Waste Recycling Centers and Recycling Drop-off Centers in the county and encourages Hendricks County residents to use the facilities. In addition, the District sponsors five Tox-Away Days each year. These events provide an opportunity for residents to properly dispose of their Household Hazardous Wastes and problem wastes.
District staff members are eager to help answer questions regarding waste reduction, reuse, recycling, or disposal.
