DESCRIPTION:The 10th annual Susan Li Conference will feature a presentation by Jim McClelland\, executive director for drug prevention\, treatment and enforcement for the State of Indiana. The event provides insight and education about the most relevant and evidence-based topics to support and educate those providing treatment and recovery services in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. It honors Susan N. Li\, a licensed clinical social worker and mental health therapist with over 35 years of clinical and administrative experience in mental health and substance abuse disorders. Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed McClelland to the newly-created position of drug czar for Indiana at the beginning of the year. McClelland reports directly to the governor and also leads the Indiana Commission to Combat Drug Abuse. He was previously president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana. Dr. Tim Kelly will serve as keynote speaker for the Susan Li Conference's second day. A former president\, CEO and medical director at Fairbanks\, Dr. Kelly is one of the nation's leading thought leaders and practitioners of addiction medicine. His testimony before the Indiana State Legislature in 2015 helped secure passage of several laws that increased treatment options for those with addiction. Other topics include neonatal abstinence\, intervention\, prevention\, medication-assisted treatment\, family therapy\, ethics in the digital age\, trauma and how to help difficult-to-reach adolescents. The conference is approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) and the National Association of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC).
